AYLUS Volunteers Help Save Endangered Monarch Butterflies by Planting Milkweed Garden in Cary, NC
AYLUS Volunteers Help Save Endangered Monarch Butterflies
The AYLUS Greater Triangle Chapter (AGT NC) recently partnered with the Chinese American Friendship Association (CAFA) of North Carolina and the Cary town government to plant a milkweed garden at Food Hope Farm. Milkweed is the primary food source and habitat for monarch butterflies, which are an endangered species. By planting the milkweed garden, the volunteers hope to provide a sanctuary for the butterfly population.
The volunteers, including 12 members from AGT NC, worked together to plant the garden and learn about the importance of milkweed in the butterfly life cycle. They left the event feeling proud of their contribution to the cause and grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment.
The milkweed planting event was the second of its kind in Cary and was a great success due to the efforts of CAFA and the town government. The AGT NC is committed to promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability through community service and volunteerism, and they look forward to continuing to work with organizations like CAFA to make a difference in the world.
