On September 17th, 2022, eight members of the ALYUS Chapel Hill Branch volunteered at the Dragon Boat Festival in Cary. During the event, we were signed to help at the RTP Pediatric Dentistry Community outreach booth, and our duties were to help children and their families learn the importance of dental care. We taught children how to floss and brush their teeth and checked the pH of their saliva. Some of our volunteers also did face painting for children and helped with booth removal. In addition to learning about dental health knowledge, we believe that the most important for participating in this event is helping the community by reaching out and communicating with different people. We really enjoyed helping hundreds of visitors from our community.
Volunteers that participated in this event: Alyssa Yuan (2 hours), Jack Xu (2 hours), Michelle Lan (2 hours), Ethan Li (2 hours), Nicholas Wang (2 hours), Aneesh Patkar, (2 hours), Chris Wu (2 hours) and Grace Gao (7 hours)
