AYLUS Pearland Tutoring at Ed White Elementary, September 17th

AYLUS Pearland volunteers started the 2022-2023 school year tutoring session at Ed White
Elementary School on September 17th, 2022, in order to teach students subjects including reading
and math. The tutoring event was kickstarted by a generous donation from AYLUS Pearland to Ed
White Elementary of $1500, which would be used to pay for incentives and snacks for the students.
The money was raised by AYLUS Pearland volunteers through summer activities such as selling
plants and a garage sale. The Ed White staff and teacher representatives are grateful for the
contribution this organization has provided. The twelve volunteers taught through many different
activities, including reading passages, math games, and worksheets. In the middle of the tutoring
session, refreshments and snacks were passed out to the students and volunteers. Afterward, the
tutoring activities continued. It was a great opportunity to allow students to engage in the material.
The students learned and picked up new material or reviewed older material so they could get a
better grasp of the curriculum. The volunteers worked 3 hours from 9:00 am to 12 pm plus 1 hour
commute time.

The volunteers at the event were (4 hours): Jonathan Niu, Matthew Niu, Elizabeth Hu, Zoey Dou, Aila Jiang, Haoqi Zhang, Alex Song, Shaotan Liu, Jordan Zheng, Alan Yao, Taylor Chan, and Alexander Healy
