On Saturday, August 20, from 1:20 to 4:20 pm, AYLUS volunteers Emma Xi, Allison Xia, and Daniel Xi volunteered at Light and Salt Association for physical examination including hepatitis A, B, C, HPV testing on seniors. Emma Xi interacted with seniors, informing them about health risks and the reasons that they needed to the exam, in particular the dangers of HIV or HPV and suggested them the way to avoid being infected. She helped the seniors to fill out paperwork for the shots, interpreting and translating the medical terms in either English or Chinese. Allison Xia worked with the doctors; she mainly organized and prepared blood specimens for different types of inspection. Daniel Xi helped the seniors find their way around the building to the exam room and also aided the health professionals with their job such as labeling the blood tubes. They ended the work by cleaning up and organizing the rooms, then taking photos with the doctors, nurses, as well as the light and salt volunteers over there.
