East Cobb Branch July 2022 Summer Enrichment Camps

During the month of July 2022, Aylus members offered free summer camps to East Cobb children.

Samuel Lu offered swimming coaching to 3 kids of different skill levels. Samuel is very patient with young swimmers.  They enjoyed the games and mini competitions that makes the sessions fun and engaging.  All the students made plausible improvements after the instructions.

Sean Yan taught three kids, (5th,6th,7th) in the basics of tennis for total of 4 hours. He first warmed up with rallies for 10 minutes then began teaching basic backhand form. He then reinforced it by feeding balls. After that volleys were taught with the correct footwork and form. During the last 15 minutes he played points with the students.

It was a great experience for me since I learned how to teach younger kids through my skills.

Albert held piano tutoring sessions for 2 kids through zoom meetings. The sessions were smooth and successful, and the kids progressed quickly through their pieces. Albert taught them by giving a few suggestions and tips like dynamics and rhythm after they played a piece. He would play the whole piece so that they can familiarize themselves with the song. The kids also wanted to learn pieces outside their instructional book. The kids that Albert worked with were interested in songs from a video game. Each song had different styles and moods. Being able to work on a piece they especially loved made each lesson more engaging and fun.

Albert also held drawing sessions through Zoom meetings. He taught the kids how to draw animals, landscapes, and other subjects that they wanted to learn. He explained basic techniques such as sketching lightly and using simple shapes to build complex drawings. Along the way, Albert briefly introduced color theory and explained how to mix colors together. On some days, he gave the kids simple drawing challenges and let them request something that they wanted to learn how to draw. When the kids finished their drawing, they would hold it to their screens. Albert would give feedback, and kids could see how others did. Overall, the kids were focused and obedient, and each lesson was fun and relaxing.
