From June 28-30, 2022, AYLUS members volunteered at Ed White Elementary to help tutor
kids in their summer school program, ranging from Pre-k to 5th grade. The school day
started with the volunteers assigned to their very own classroom and teacher to
assist. Through workbooks and games, the volunteers helped with math, reading comprehension, and grammar. Reading was aided through popcorn reading, comprehension
questions, and activities to help identify information in the text. At 11:00, students and
volunteers had a quick lunch break, and volunteers could relax as the students went
to recess. After students returned to their respective classrooms, volunteers continued to
help students until the end of the day and even had a fun game day to win prizes on Thursday, June 30th.
