Chapel Hill Branch Hosts Zoom Workshops for Students in April 2022

From 4/1 to 4/30, the Chapel Hill branch (with the Columbus branch) of AYLUS organized the first of two series of five Zoom workshops and talks centered around opportunities in high school. Nicholas Wang, Ethan Li, and Brenna Li (Columbus) hosted talks about linguistics competitions, student government & high school class selection, mock trial, competitive programming, and math contests- all given by high school or college students, including fellow AYLUS member Alice Cheng and Alan Cheng. The hosts were tasked with recruiting speakers, communicating information to them beforehand, creating a flyer advertising the event, generating community interest, and directing & monitoring Zoom meetings with audiences reaching upwards of 80 participants from across the state and, in some cases, country.

The volunteers that participated in this event were:

Nicholas Wang (4 hours), Ethan Li (4 hours), Alice Cheng (5 hours), and Alan Cheng (5 hours)
