AYLUS Pearland hosted a donation drive to support low-income families in Mexico. The event started on November 29th and finished on December 12th. The collected items include toys, clothing for kids and adults, and small plastic containers. These collected items were first sent to one of the three drop off stations where they were categorized and packed. After the collection event was finished, church volunteers pick up donation items from the drop off stations and deliver them to Mexico. With the help of the volunteers, AYLUS collected more than 3500 donated clothes, toys, and household items. In addition, a total of 150lbs of Halloween candy were donated and will be sent to the families in Mexico at the same time.
By the end of this event, volunteers and donors learned just how far a simple gift could go. A worthless item for an individual could be the greatest gift for someone else. No matter how small the donation, there is no way to determine just how much it could impact someone else’s life.
Based on the number of donated items, the time that donors prepared for the items including to collect, clean, sort, pack, and deliver the items to one of the three drop off stations, one to two service hours were assigned to the donors.
