On September 7th, AYLUS members volunteered for the voter registration initiative organized by the Center for Pan Asian Community services (CPACS). At the start of the meeting, Tiffany Garnace from CPACS gave an introduction about the organization and its goals and demonstrated how to encourage Georgia citizens to vote in the upcoming local elections. We used the SPOKE text banking website to send messages. For about an hour and a half, the volunteers sent thousands of texts, urging people to use their voices and vote. We were also able to answer questions that any individuals had about the election or the voter registration process. At the end, Tiffany held a debriefing session to discuss our experiences and go over common questions that people may have had. It was an overall great experience for us to be able to make an impact on the community in this way.
