AYLUS Williamsville Hosts a Book-drive Appreciation Picnic and College Application Seminars on June 23

To thank the donors who made the AAPI month book drive so successful (the local newspaper Amherst Bee wrote an article about it), we hosted an appreciation picnic at a local park and invited all donors to the event. It is also a celebration of the anniversary of our Williamsville branch. Eight volunteers who received the President’s Volunteer Service Awards were recognized during this event. We decorated the rented shelter and prepared some food such as lamb skewers for the guests.  In the meanwhile, we also invited three guest speakers to give seminars on college applications. The speakers shared their valuable experiences as students and parents regarding how to prepare for college applications. We also organized several activities for all the kids at the picnic, such as tennis, volleyball, tug of the war, and chess. In the end, we cleaned up all the trash after all guests left. There were about 100 people who attended the AYLUS event. They all expressed their appreciation for what we did to the community during the past year.

Volunteers: Grant Wang (2.5 hrs), Dasang Dolma (2 hrs), Alex Liang (3.5 hrs), Eileen Wang (2 hrs), Grace Wang (2.5 hrs), Yonten Gyatso (2 hrs), Susan Tu (2 hrs), Megan Tu (2 hrs), Eric Liu (3 hrs), Kevin Yang (4 hrs), Andrew Wang (2 hrs), Kevin Feng (1 hr), Henry Feng (1 hr), Sarah Qiu (2 hrs), April Yang (4 hrs), Andrew Jiang (2 hrs)
