AYLUS Pearland’s Inaugural Trash 2 Treasure Contest: Turning Recycling into Art on April 27, 2024

On April 27, 2024, the Pearland branch of AYLUS made history by hosting its inaugural recycling art show, the Trash 2 Treasure Contest. A dedicated team of volunteers worked tirelessly to meticulously plan the event, from crafting contest procedures to assembling a panel of esteemed judges. They defined evaluation criteria and ensured impartiality by maintaining anonymity throughout the submission process.

In addition to their organizational efforts, volunteers generously offered guidance to community children, inspiring them with creative ideas on how to repurpose materials. On the day of the event, contestants eagerly submitted their creations to the library, where volunteers displayed each piece alongside detailed descriptions.

As judges arrived, they approached their task with careful consideration, attentively assessing each submission. Their ultimately awarded one grand prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes to the most exceptional works of art, highlighting the talent and ingenuity of the participants.
