On Sunday, 5/30, for 2 hours, the members of the Greater Princeton AYLUS Light as a Feather Club hosted its birding lesson over Zoom.
This week, we were teaching members how to identify birds, using silhouettes and the unique field marks on the wings and heads of different birds. Our club members also explained a variety of tail shapes, position of birds in water, and the different birds that you might see climb trees. We also went over some places to birdwatch in New Jersey that were slightly farther away (Edwin B. Forsythe NWR and Barnegat Light SP), along with a description of the many birds that can be seen there.. After the lesson, we posted our presentation, helpful resources, and additional materials in the discord server. We are hoping to take a birdwatching field trip next week if the weather allows!
