Greater Princeton AYLUS Continues Chess Class for Kids (17th) into November 2020

The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) continued chess classes every Monday along with Chess Tournaments on the first Saturday every month starting in October. During class, we solved puzzles with different themes and also analyzed a famous game played by Paul Morphy and Duke Karl. After class, there is always time to play games against each other to practice the skills we have learned in class in an actual game. Having learned a variety of skills, the students are improving their visualization, tactic, and position skills.

GPA has continued with another chess class for beginners. It occurs every Tuesday from 7 to 8 pm. During class, we teach basic information needed to play a game of chess such as what we call the pieces, how they move, and to how to set up a chessboard. We have continued with going over the Italian opening and the opening principles, and learned what promotion is and the Petrov opening (copying opening). Curious players are enjoying learning about the fascinating game of chess and play against each other at the end of class on Chess.com

GPA will host our next Chess Tournament on November 7, 2020 from 2 to 3 pm EST!

Participants: Sarah Yan (October 26, 27, November 2, 3; 2 hrs each), Erick Yan  (October 26, 27, November 2, 3; 2 hrs each)
