During the third week of September, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continued their Bilingual Tutoring Program. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, and communication to their students across the country.
They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school. Their bilingual tutoring activities included:
GPA member Catherine Feng continued to teach her student Jason English through having conversations and reading materials for an hour on Monday, 9/14, from 6:50-7:50 am.
Yixin Shirley Zhang continued to tutor her student Daniel Chinese for an hour on Tuesday, 9/15, from 6:00-7:00 pm EST.
Feiying Qian and Yueqi Yu teamed up to teach their student English through having conversations for 2 hours and 35 minutes on Saturday, 9/19, from 12:45-3:20 pm CST.
Siquan Qiu taught her student English through conversations, worksheets, and reading practice for 40 minutes on Saturday, 9/19, from 6:15-6:55 pm.
Ryan Tian tutored his student Aishia Hu Chinese for 30 minutes on 9/17, from 7:10-7:40 pm. Ryan also mentored two students in English and Math for 1 hour on 9/11 from 4:15-5:15 pm. Ryan taught two students Math and English for 2 hours on 9/12 from 7:30-9:30 pm; 2 hours on 9/18 from 4:15 pm to 6:15 pm; and 2 hours on 9/19 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Abigail Bao and Angela Bao teamed up and taught kids in the subjects of English reading and writing twice a week. The 3-hour classes on each of Friday, 9/18 and Sunday, 9/20 for two age groups of students, respectively, focused on story-telling and open-minded discussion.
Ruofei Olivia Mao also tutored her student English for an hour on Friday, 9/18, from 7:00-8:30 pm, and Saturday, 9/19, from 1:10-2:10 pm.
Anthony F Yang did 2 hours of Community Service through the preparation and class of tutoring third graders (Aimee Zhang, Mulan Yang, Nico Fischer, Dayna Li) reading and writing.
