Irvine Branch Hosts 4th Fall History Class on September 15, 2020

On September 15, 2020, volunteers from the Irvine branch of AYLUS hosted its fourth introductory history class for the fall session. We held the lesson on Zoom, and students, consisting of elementary and middle schoolers, had a great time participating.

Today in class we talked about the expansion of the United States from coast to coast, as well as the tensions leading up to the civil war. We though that participation was satisfactory as many of the kids participated in our organized discussions on political cartoons and events. For example, we had a discussion on John Brown and another one on a political cartoon regarding sectionalism. The kids looked very happy when we were presenting the Kahoots, for example celebrating when they got an answer right and getting “mad” they when got an answer wrong.

Students provided great answers, showed curiosity, and asked questions for clarification.
