On June 28th, the Houston branch held its 8th debate class in a series focused on developing public speaking and critical thinking. Students explored the ongoing civil war in Yemen, looking at the history of the conflict and how it has evolved into a proxy war. They also learned about the humanitarian crisis, including the triple threat of famine, cholera, and COVID-19. In the debate section, students learned about weighing mechanisms such as timeframe, scope, and probability. Finally, this class featured the first of many practice debates, with both sides performing excellently!
