Phoenix Branch Holds IT/CS Committee Information Session on June 27, 2020

On June 27th, 2020, the AYLUS Phoenix Computer Science Committee, also known as the Information Technology Committee, hosted an hour-long information session from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Zoom. The session was about AYLUS, the CS Committee, and coding methodology. The objective of the tutorial was to formally introduce the CS committee to the rest of the club, gauge the technical skills of the branch, and lay out a framework for the future of the committee.

The branch president started with an introduction to AYLUS Phoenix and its activities for some audience members who did not know about it, and handed control over to the two committee chairs, who gave their presentation and answered questions afterwards. The presentation itself covered the national and branch CS committees and their goals; achievements of the Phoenix CS committee (including the cross-posting app made by a committee member); coding tips; future project proposals for AYLUS, AYLUS Phoenix, and the committee; and application to the committee. 30 people, including the branch president, advisor, and committee chairs attended, with most but not all being from AYLUS.

Kerry Zhuo spent 2.25 hours planning the information session and committee before and on 6/15 and 0.5 hours after 6/15. He spent 1.5 hours on the session’s flyer during 6/15 and 3 hours after that date. He also spent 1 hour making the presentation on 6/15, and 5 hours editing and practicing it after 6/15. He spent 1 hour presenting the information session.
