On July 4th, AYLUS teamed up with Pearland Parks and Recreation to host the Independence Day Festival and Fireworks, celebrating America’s 243rd birthday. The festival coincided with the grand opening of Independence Park, which had been closed for three years, and had thousands of citizens attending. This year our volunteers helped with inflatables, rides, and other attractions. AYLUS volunteers worked from 5:30 to 10:30 pm. After an exciting display of fireworks, volunteers returned to their post and continued working their shift until the festival ended. After the festival ended, volunteers helped clean up the park, making sure all trash and litter were picked up.
