With the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, many hospitals are filling up with an endless number of patients and are in desperate need of medical supplies to treat everyone. In March 2020, AYLUS decided to alleviate some of the doctors’ stress by donating much needed N95 masks to doctors in the Houston area. As many as 22 different families from AYLUS pitched in to donate masks towards fighting this pandemic.
First, AYLUS teamed up with the Pearland Chinese Association, who donated hundreds of masks to the AYLUS foundation. Unfortunately, these masks were for the general public and not the specialized doctor masks. In order to overcome this, AYLUS offered two of the general masks to families who donated one N95 mask (which is approved by the NIOSH for doctors). AYLUS member Jayden Lu then went door to door picking up N95 donations in exchange for consumer masks. In total, roughly 450 masks were collected and were distributed to five different hospitals.
The doctors who received these masks were very touched and were very thankful for the donations.
