Phoenix Branch Launches Second Coronavirus Fundraiser by Selling Freshly Picked Organic Oranges on March 21, 2020

On March 21, 2020 from 10am-1pm, the Phoenix branch gathered at a volunteer’s backyard to pick oranges. During the three hour session, over 600 pounds of oranges were picked and weighed, then packed into bags and boxes to sell. The volunteers that participated in the event had lots of fun picking oranges and making new friends. They used ladders to get oranges in high-reaching places and other tools to get as many oranges as they could. All volunteers wore face masks and gloves in order to stay safe from the COVID-19. Less than 10 volunteers participated in order to keep the amount of people and contact low. Regardless of the little amount of people, it was still a successful event and all the money will be donated to coronavirus fundraiser.

The oranges were sold $5 for 10 pounds. The oranges that were not sold were gifted to those who had donated to our COVID-19 fundraiser with ICEN.

The volunteers that participated in this event were Katherine Wei, Michelle Yu, Ethan Wei, Steven Zeng, Amy Xie, Jack Xie, and Davina Chen.
