Phoenix Branch Holds an Information Session about local Hospital Volunteering and PVSA on November 10, 2019

On November 10, 2019, the Phoenix branch held an information session at a library about volunteering in the local hospitals in the East Valley in Arizona as well as the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) from 2:00pm-3:30pm. Many students are interested in going into the medical field, so the Phoenix branch decided to give a presentation to share experiences about volunteering at hospitals.

Katherine Wei, Michelle Yu, Marina Hu, Amy Xie, Richard Cheng, and Ethan Wei participated in this 1.5 hour event. The volunteers created a slideshow and presented it to students who are interested in the medical field and who want to get the PVSA and their parents. Volunteers explained the application process to becoming a volunteer in a variety of hospitals as well as dos and don’ts of interviews and essays. Afterwards, volunteers also explained the PVSA and how to get it through AYLUS. Over 80 parents and students attended the information session and it was a great success.
