Greater Princeton AYLUS “Humanitarian Care” Team Served at Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (11th) on July 3, 2019

Reported by Amber Yu

On July 3, 2019, Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) “Humanitarian Care” team served again at Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (PCCK) from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm (2 hours). PCCK is a food kitchen regularly serving dinner once a week on Wednesdays. It also provides a free clothing store, health screenings, and kids playing area. The kitchen is aiming at helping underprivileged people in the Princeton area.

Three GPA members, Fengqi Wen,  Aaron Wang, and Amber Yu, arrived at the kitchen early and lined up with some other volunteers. For dinner, Spaghetti, meatballs, fresh fruit salad, and bread were served. When the people who were being served, finished, we took away their dishes and sent them to be cleaned.

Both the older adults and the young children enjoyed the food and were delighted that they could bring extra food bags and clothes home. After the dinner, children started to play. There were also healthcare professionals who were offering free check up.

Once again, for GPA members it was a pleasant experience working at the kitchen. Everyone was happy to have this opportunity to serve others. During the summer break, we will have more free time and will come back for sure!

In addition, Amber Yu helped decorate the dinner tables, clean up the kids play areas, and organize the donation tables on July 2 (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm). The preparation work was essential to the community kitchen.
