Greater Princeton AYLUS Members Promoted the American Team Spirit on February 9 and 16, 2019

Science Olympiad is an American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year.

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) President Cassie Tammy Wang and member Allen Zhang, students of the West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South (WWP HSS), have been actively leading separate events (Fossils, Mousetrap Vehicle, Herpetology, Protein) in the school “Science Olympiad Team”, and recently participated two Science Olympiad Invitational Competitions, one at Princeton University, and the other at University of Pennsylvania (Penn), hosted on February 9th and 16th, 2019, respectively.

During these all day event, at Princeton, the WWP HSS Team won first place among 46 teams; while at Penn, the WWP HSS Team overcame lots of difficulties in competing with the 56 teams from all over the country, including many times National Champion Troy High School team from California. Cassie and Allen learned a lot at the events while volunteered to help their team members to set up. Anyway, the State Level competition is due March 13th!

Besides bringing home medals and trophies, as GPA members, Cassie Tammy Wang and Allen Zhang helped promote the American Team Spirit of “Science Olympiad” during the process of competitions, build up team leaderships, and they will continue doing so in the upcoming months with the goal of National.
