Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA), NJ Branch, has many talented members. Since December 11th, 2018, we started to feature some of them on our web page, so all GPA members get to know each other. Hopefully, it would also help with more constructive and collaborative teamwork among GPA members in our volunteer activities! So here comes one of our proud members Edward Cao:
Self-Introduction Provided by Edward Cao:
My name is Edward Cao. I am 13 years old and a 7th grader at Princeton Charter School. I joined GPA because I want more opportunities to serve our community.
I have a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related topics. I play Tennis, Soccer, drawing, and play the Saxophone in my school band. My artworks has also won many awards. In my school, I favorite both science and math equally. I joined Math Counts at my school so I can have opportunities to solve more challenging math problems.
In the summer of 2018, I volunteered to teach kids in rural places in Yunnan Province, China. It was a fun experience and the kids there were very interested in what I brought to them. I was the only one from America, so I taught them about America.
Starting late 2018, I have been volunteering again to teach kids in rural places in China. Along with two other students, we work together to teach the kids English. Instead of physically being there, we are using “Zoom” to teach them online once a week on Sunday night for 45 minutes.
By joining GPA, I would definitely have more opportunities to help our community in a positive way!
