AYLUS Greater Princeton, NJ Branch (GPA) has many members that are talented in playing instruments, singing, and dancing, etc. Using such talents, Greater Princeton Branch has a year-round “Music from Heart” project. Talented members are encouraged to look for opportunities to give music performances at any locations that “music from heart” will bring their community a lot of joy.
On December 30th, 25 GPA members spent 3 hours between 1 and 4 p.m. to host a marvelous “Music from Heart” Happy New Year Performance at the Merwick Care & Rehabilitation Center in Plainsboro. President of GPA, Cassie Tammy Wang, gladly presented a “Happy New Year” gift for the seniors, an interesting box of card game, to the Merwick Director Anisa Knox and Coordinator Christine Hui at the beginning.
The performance was actually put together elaborately to make the program quite attractive with playing a variety of instruments, including the violin, cello, and flute; singing both English and Chinese folk songs; dancing; playing magic tricks, stand-up comedy, cross talks, and the best of all, Chinese Martial Arts! All seniors at the Merwick were extremely appreciative of the performance and enjoyed it very much. To end the program, everyone including the senior audience happily sang along the Merry Christmas and Happy New Year songs.
After the performance, GPA members enjoyed some delicious snacks provided by the Merwick Care, and had casual talks with the senior audience. As one of the seniors mentioned, GPA members were “not only gifted and versatile, but also willing to share with us, let us feel so warm and touched this afternoon. We want you to come back more often!”
