AYLUS Pearland Plants Flags for July 4th

On July 1st, members of AYLUS Pearland planted flags across Bellaire Boulevard in preparation for the Fourth of July. AYLUS worked in cooperation with the Asian American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) and Chinese American Relief Effort (C.A.R.E.) who provided the flags and materials and opportunity of flag planting.

The group of around 30 volunteers split up into groups of 2-4 to decorate with greater efficiency. Beginning the process at 7:30 in the morning, the volunteers finished four hours later, filling Chinatown with the proud stars and stripes of our flag. The volunteers trekked from location to location, carrying ladders, flags, zip ties, and other supplies. Despite the sweltering heat, the volunteers kept planting in order to fill the streets with the celebratory cheers of America’s independence.

The following volunteers attended this event: Andy Jiang, Kevin song, Janie Chen, Karen Lu, Jayden Lu, Kathy Liang, Kevin Ren, Bryan Li, Jin Wang, Albert Xie, Annee Zhu, Katherine Zhong, Thomas Feng, Marshal Feng
