Jericho Branch Helps Clean Up and Monitor Terrapins on June 26, 2021

On June 26, 2021, from 9 to 11 in the morning, members of the Jericho Branch picked up trash at Centre Island Beach while monitoring terrapin turtle nests with the Friends of the Bay organization. Despite how vital these creatures are to the bay environment, people still trash the turtles’ habitats with bottles, cigarettes, and even whole sandals. Participants of this opportunity could not find turtle nests and pick up garbage, but they could also see other creatures such as mussels, crabs, and fish. All trash collected was safely relocated away from the bay.

The following members participated:

Malvina Chen (2hrs)
Kenny Lee (2hrs)
Douglas Chen (2hrs)
Steven Lee (2hrs)
Paul Huang (2hrs)
Audrey Chan (2hrs)
