On 3/26/18, East Cobb AYLUS donated 400 surgical face masks ($200 dollars’ worth) to the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. The Kennestone Hospital is in short supply of face masks and is also under pressure from COVID-19 patients — the hospital is one of the most important hospitals in the area for COVID-19 treatment, and the first medical worker infected by COVID-19 in Georgia was infected at this hospital.
The masks were bought with money raised from East Cobb AYLUS fundraising donations. The fundraiser’s goal was to provide resources to people who need them in light of the current pandemic. The donations totaled to over $2000 dollars, which were used to buy masks. The masks were bought from the RUC Investors Groups’ “In Love We Connect” program, with help from Mr. Frank Jiang. The masks, under a label designed by Kevin Shen, were delivered to the hospital by Raymond Jiang.
Aside from donating these masks, East Cobb AYLUS also participated in a Facebook initiative in which we sewed 50 face mask cases. This initiative, called Sewing Masks for Atlanta Hospitals, has over 5000 members. The mask cases were delivered to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and Kaiser Permanente medical.
East Cobb AYLUS is extremely thankful for being able to help the community, especially in this time of great need. Although many of our activities have been suspended because of the coronavirus, we hope that we can still contribute to our community.
