Oakland Gardens Branch Second Handmade Flower Workshop (08/21/2026)

Our members came together again for a second round of handmade pipe cleaner flower making on August 21, 2026, from 10am to 1pm, 250th event, continuing our preparation for the upcoming fundraising sale to support the Africa Library Project.

After gaining experience from the first workshop, everyone was more familiar with the basic techniques this time. Members were able to work more confidently, while also trying different colors, flower styles, and arrangements. Some members shared what they had learned during the first session and helped others improve their techniques, creating a wonderful atmosphere of teamwork and encouragement.

The second workshop also gave everyone a chance to reflect on what they had learned from the first experience. We discovered that even a simple craft can become a meaningful volunteer activity when we put time and care into it. With each flower we made, we became more patient and more confident, and we learned to pay closer attention to the small details that make a handmade bouquet special.

Most importantly, our members understood that these bouquets are being created for a purpose beyond the craft itself. Every flower represents a small contribution toward our fundraising goal for the Africa Library Project. Knowing that our handmade creations can help provide books and reading opportunities for children makes the time and effort we put into each bouquet even more meaningful.

We are grateful to all of our members for continuing to contribute their creativity, time, and enthusiasm. Together, we are turning simple materials into beautiful flowers—and turning our efforts into hope and opportunity for children in Africa.
