Reported by Eric Huang
From June 29 to July 3, 2026, Eric and Xiao successfully led a five‑day Scratch Summer Camp designed to introduce students to foundational programming concepts through hands‑on project creation. Arjun supported the camp each day as a teaching assistant. Sessions began at 3:30 PM and lasted about an hour and a half, followed by an extended Q&A period that provided individualized guidance for students who needed additional help. Throughout the week, Eric and Xiao also dedicated extra hours outside of class to review and correct homework, answer student questions, troubleshoot project issues, and support students in developing their personal Scratch creations.
Day 3 — Button Creation & Extended Scratch Exploration (July 1)
Day 3 focused on building functional buttons within the project, teaching students how to trigger actions through clicks and events. Eric demonstrated how to design button sprites, program responses, and connect multiple interactive elements. Students also explored additional Scratch features such as sound effects and costume changes. Arjun and Xiao provided TA support throughout the session.
