On March 29th, 2026, AYLUS Lake Washington Branch members Elissa Song and Kevin Chen volunteered at Washington State Math Association’s (WSMA) annual math fair. Before and during the event the members helped set up and volunteered at various booths – Kevin volunteered at the 24 Game and Elissa volunteered at the Engineering Challenge booth. They both helped their respective stations get ready for the event. For the activities themselves, Kevin had participants draw playing cards to solve calculations, and Elissa had participants build towers through marshmallows and toothpicks.
Our members both agree that this event was beneficial for the math community, fostering not only education but also enjoyment through fun and interactive events. They also learned many soft skills like communication, collaboration, and leadership.
