Our volunteers noticed that a considerable amount of waste sometimes occurs around us. People don’t want to take the time to sort and donate clothes; they just throw them into the garbage can. So our branch decided to launch a Community Clothing Drive to collect as many clothes as possible for individuals and families in need during the last week of February (from Feb. 23 to Feb. 28).
For the whole week, our volunteers spread the information over their own communities. They leave their home address so people can drop off the clothes, or set up a time to pick up the donations after school hours. Later, they inspected every donated item, including for missing buttons, broken zippers, stains, tears, or excessive wear, to ensure only like-new, unworn, and undamaged pieces were selected. And then, they donated the chosen clothes to Goodwill.
Our volunteers are happy to divert usable goods from communities to those who need them most while ensuring the recipients receive items in good condition.
