AYLUS Great Neck Branch holds AAPI Event at the Main Library 41st (1/10/26)

On January 10th of 2026, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch held an AAPI event at the Great Neck Main Library for the kids. The event started off with different volunteers reading aloud books to the kids. Nathan started off by reading the book, “Dim Sum Palace,” followed by Amber reading, “The Year of the Rabbit – Tales from a Chinese Zodiac,” and ended off by Rebecca reading, “The Ocean Calls.” After the read aloud the children had a choice of what activity they wanted to do. Raine and Victoria taught the kids how to create mini keychains by crocheting. Catherine, Andrew, Jaden, and Amber volunteered at the 2 different craft activity tables.  One of them being sand art, where the volunteers showed the kids how to create different images with the different colored sand on a piece of paper. The other activity was origami where the volunteers taught the children how to create small stars, boats, and butterflies with special origami paper. Overall, the event was a fun and engaging experience for the kids and the volunteers both.
