AYLUS Dix Hills Volunteers help out at Long Island Chinese School

On November 16th, between 1:30 and 4:30 pm AYLUS volunteers came to SUNY Old Westbury at the Long Island Chinese School to help out in classrooms. Volunteers were stationed in their own respective classrooms, where they helped a multitude of grade levels. In each classroom, volunteers checked student work, handed out worksheets, and controlled the class during break.

During 3:30 to 4:30 pm, AYLUS volunteers transitioned from their classrooms to the intermediate chess class. In a classroom of roughly 20 students, AYLUS volunteers watched, organized, and even played the students in tournament styled games. Thanks to the works of AYLUS volunteers, students were able to enjoy a safe and interactive learning environment.
