Greater Tulsa Branch volunteers with Asbury Second Saturday on September 13th

Reported by Kaiting Hsu

On September 13th, three volunteers from the Greater Tulsa Branch, participated in Asbury Second Saturday’s volunteer program. For the first time, our branch had the opportunity to serve at the Loaves and Fishes Station, located within the Turning Pointe Thrift Store.

Turning Pointe Thrift Store is a community-driven space that not only provides affordable items through donations but also reinvests its proceeds to support a neighboring food bank. This mission of giving back to the community truly stood out to us during our time there.

Our group contributed by assisting with a variety of tasks, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning different areas of the store, including the back storage space. We also organized, cleaned and priced donated jewelry pieces. We repaired and arranged furnitures and helped organize the storage area in the back room.

The experience was both meaningful and rewarding. It was inspiring to see firsthand how the thrift store’s efforts directly support local families in need. Our branch looks forward to continuing to volunteer with Asbury Second Saturday and contributing to the impact this program makes in the community.
