On Saturday August 30th, Syosset AYLUS members went to the CCE farmer’s market. Earlier arrivals helped set up the market by pulling out tents for various vendors, setting chairs and tables at booths, and making the market look presentable before visitors started arriving. Today would be a great day for the farmer’s market with the beautiful weather, but the annual crafts fair was also being held today. Volunteers at the front stand would keep track of the visitor count, as well as punch any holes for repeating visitors—which today, we had someone complete the punch card! These customers would receive a tote bag with all sorts of products. At different stands, other volunteers helped advertise the Long Island fair. While registration for being a competitor ended, customers had just one more day to get tickets at a discounted price. At the activity station, members also set up coloring sheets, word searches, books, hula hoops, and soccer balls for children to play with. For the individuals that wanted to bring these activities back to little ones at home, they were also welcome to! It was a great day at the farmer’s market.
