The afternoon kicked off with a lively game of tag—with a playground twist. The team chased each other over climbing structures, with Dylan and Baiyu playfully “losing” to draw out the child (who struggles with socializing). Shy giggles turned into full laughter as the child started darting toward the volunteers, pointing and grinning mid-chase.
Later, they moved to the swings: Yucheng pushed gently, while Ivy and Meixin clapped along to a silly rhyme Dylan made up. The child, now beaming, yelled “Higher!” and threw their arms up at the swing’s peak, prompting cheers from the group.
By 5:30 PM, the child high-fived everyone goodbye—far more engaged than when they started. It was an hour of playful chaos, but the real win? Turning quiet moments into laughing.
