AYLUS Roslyn Volunteers at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Group Home (47th) on June 28th, 2025

On Saturday June 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the Roslyn Branch of Aylus volunteered at a CP Nassau Group Home in Farmingdale. The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities reach their highest level of independence.

Today, volunteers started by helping residents get ready for the activities. We decided to begin with baking a vanilla cake. Volunteers assisted the residents in adding and mixing the ingredients. After making the batter and putting the cake in the oven to bake, we played a round of Uno. Both residents and volunteers participated in the game. Next, we brought out the crafts. We decided to color different wooden decorations using acrylic markers. Afterwards, we brought out more games to play before enjoying the cake we baked.

Throughout these activities, we learned how to better communicate and help the residents according to their individual needs. The activities today were so fun even if a little challenging. We are so happy to be able to volunteer at CP Nassau and can’t wait to be back!
