AYLUS Great Neck Branch Weekly Sport Day on 10/18/2024 (35th)

On Friday, October 18th, AYLUS Great Neck Branch successfully hosted another engaging sport event at Firefighters Park, specifically designed for children with autism. The event took place from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, drawing in both eager participants and dedicated volunteers.
A variety of activities were offered, blending sports and games to ensure a fun, dynamic experience. A highlight of the event was the traditional Chinese jump rope, which attracted a lot of attention from the children. The rope’s vibrant colors and interactive nature helped spark curiosity, and many of the kids enjoyed jumping in rhythm, with volunteers demonstrating and guiding them through the game.
In addition to the jump rope, many of the participants also enjoyed playing tag around the park. This simple but classic game kept the children active and engaged, providing a great way for them to exercise and have fun in an inclusive environment. AYLUS volunteers worked closely with each child, ensuring they were comfortable and enjoying themselves throughout the activities.
Overall, the event was a great success, providing an hour of joyful interaction and physical activity for both the participants and the volunteers. It fostered a sense of community, exercise, and enjoyment, leaving everyone looking forward to future gatherings. Report by: Rebecca Xu
