On July 11 2024, Kevin Zhou and Jasmine Zheng volunteered at FAM food pantry for two hours from 3 pm to 5 pm. The supervisor was Tongde (Todd) Zhou, Kevin’s dad. First, Kevin and Jasmine sorted boxes of various perishable foods into the foods’ perspective fridges (examples being fruits in a designated fridge and salads/bagged vegetables in another fridge). Then the two volunteers wiped down tables and fridges using vinegar water and paper towels. The rest of the time was devoted to mopping the entire warehouse floor plan with mops and janitorial buckets of soapy water. Afterwards the buckets of dirty water were dumped and put away with the mops.
On July 13 2024, three volunteers—Jasmine Zheng, Nison Cai, and Biaoming (Kevin) Pan—went to FAM food pantry for three hours from 9 am to 12 pm. The supervisor was Dean Zheng, Jasmine’s dad. They organized boxes of different items and put them away in designated storage areas (packaged vegetables went into a vegetable fridge, dairy products went into a dairy fridge, soaps were put onto a toiletries shelf, unpackaged vegetables were put into vegetable crates, to name a few examples). They also packed eggs into cartons, threw out and replaced trash bags, wiped down work areas using spray bottles of vinegar water and paper towels, as well as swept the floors.
