On 6/1/24 and 6/2/24, West Essex members volunteered with Essex special skating team at the Cardinal Classic TOI competition in Woodbridge, VA.
SCNV’s Cardinal Classic 2024 competition, held at Prince William Ice Center from May 31 to June 2, 2024. Singles, Pairs, Well-Balanced, Excel and Showcase, Aspire, Compete USA, and Theatre on Ice events will be offered. The IJS judging system was used for Preliminary-through-Senior well-balanced events, short program events, Excel Plus, and Excel Juvenile-through-Senior events. CJS was used for Showcase events.
West Essex members served as mentors for special needs skaters in Essex Special Skating team. The team competed in adaptive free style program. On June 1st, mentors practiced the movement with special skaters off ice. On June 2nd, the competition day, mentors helped the team skate a zootopia themed program on ice. The team won 2nd place in the competition.
