West Essex AYLUS Supports Annual SIM Dance Party for Special Needs Families on 4/27/24

On 4/27/24, West Essex members volunteered with Saturdays in Motion at the 2nd annual dance party for special needs families.

Somerset Hills YMCA held its 2nd annual Saturdays in Motion Dance with a under the sea theme on Saturday, April 27, 2024. It was a fantastic success. The Y was filled with music, dancing, tattoos, balloons, food, joy, and fun! SIM Dance started as an idea of local attorney, Ellen Rubino Young, of Wiley, Malehorn, Sirota, & Raynes Attorneys at Law. This was first an idea turned vision and now a vision turned reality. The law firm formed a dance committee and worked hard to make the event a success. “I marveled at the energy, creativity, and persistence of the committee members,” says Art Raynes, Saturdays in Motion’s lead organizer.

Saturdays in Motion (SIM) is the longest running non-public recreational program for children (ages 3-17) with autism in the United States. Autistic children (ages 3-17) and their families join together at Somerset Hills YMCA on Saturdays for two hours of recreation. “It was a wonderful event with amazing volunteers! The kids and their families had a great time, says Beth Bolen, Somerset Hills YMCA Membership Director.

West Essex members (3 hours each):  Ava Lee, Orion Lee, Jasmine Chen, Leo Xiao, Simon Li
