Part of the National Institutes of Health, All of Us is building one of the largest and most diverse health databases of its kind. Many groups have been left out of health research in the past. We think we can help change that. On September 3rd, we volunteered at Russell Creek Park to promote the All of Us research program to Asian Americans. We gave out lemonade, cotton candy, and balloon shapes of dogs, swords, and flowers. We invited the people at Russell Creek to get these if they watched a 2-minute video about the All of Us research program and signed up their names, emails or phone numbers. About 80 people from the park participated in this event! We worked behind-the-scenes creating balloon animals and cotton candy as people lined up to get big fluff clouds of cotton candy. We as volunteers had a great time making really big puffs of cotton candy, (the customer asked for it), The people enjoyed the delicious apple/watermelon flavors! (Fun fact, watermelon is a favorite among the Russell Creek park-ers). We welcomed new branch members as well and taught them how to make balloon shapes and cotton candy! We are so proud that we are helping the All of Us research program reach more than 1 million people from all backgrounds. This event helped raise awareness for the All of Us research program, as well as giving the children/youth fun rewards at Russell Creek Park!
