The Aylus Morris Branch partnered with local Girl Scouts to organize a community drive focused on collecting new and gently used sports equipment for the annual Day of Service. The goal of this initiative was to provide accessible sports resources to children and families who may not have the opportunity to participate in athletic activities due to financial or resource limitations. By working together, both organizations aimed to promote active lifestyles and ensure that more young people could experience the benefits of sports.
Members actively engaged the community by reaching out to neighbors, friends, and local supporters, encouraging them to donate equipment that was still in good condition. Through these efforts, they collected a variety of items, including tennis balls, tennis rackets, ski equipment, and other sports gear. Each contribution helped expand opportunities for youth to stay active, build skills, and develop confidence through physical activity. The drive also highlighted the importance of sustainability by giving gently used equipment a second life.
On April 12 at 2:00 PM, members delivered all collected items to a local library collection site, completing the project in an organized and timely manner. This drop-off marked the culmination of their planning, outreach, and teamwork, ensuring that the equipment could be distributed efficiently to those who would benefit most.
Overall, this initiative demonstrated strong collaboration, leadership, and community spirit. The partnership between the Aylus Morris Branch and the Girl Scouts showcased how joint efforts can create a meaningful impact. By combining service with community engagement, members not only supported others but also reinforced the value of teamwork and giving back.
