On Saturday, September 12th, from 3:45 – 5:00 PM, members of the Great Neck AYLUS branch hosted an AAPI event for kids at the Great Neck Main Library. The activities that were held at this event included story reading and arts & crafts such as origami, crochet, and color scratching. Three volunteers—Nathan Li, Jolynn Li, and Austin Jiang—read three story books to the audience; “Ten Suns”, “The Korean Cinderella”, and “Lon PoPo”.
After reading, volunteers Nathan Li, Isabelle Yan, and Austin Jiang scratched color art with kids to reveal colorful patterns beneath black horses while volunteers Christina Pan and Jolynn Li taught kids to make paper stars out of blue and white paper strips. Meanwhile, Rainie Cheng created various crochet art, such as small penguins. Overall, this was an enjoyable session, and we thank those who attended and look forward to the next event.
