Aylus Syosset Worked with Long Island Cares Food Bank to help raise food donations on 11/11/23

On 11/11/2023, members of AYLUS Syosset Branch partnered with Long Island Cares (“LIC”) to help collect food and raise money at King Kullen supermarket in Huntington. Long Island Cares is a food bank that improves food security for families, sponsors programs that help families achieve self-sufficiency, and educates the public about the root causes and consequences of hunger on Long Island. LIC hosts food drives to collect food donations to help Long Island’s food insecure individuals and families throughout the entirety of the year. Volunteers take shifts between 9AM to 5PM,  collecting non-perishable products that can then be sent to families.

Some members spoke to shoppers about the list of most needed items and distributed the lists to shoppers as they entered the store. Some members accepted their donations as they exited and organized the different products and sorted them into boxes. Some members accepted cash donations and put them in the donation box.

Members who participated:

2.5 hours: Rayya Zheng, Reyna Zheng, Sarah Chen, Sofie Chang, and Sonia Chang
