AYLUS Bellaire volunteered at Project C.U.R.E. on September 30, 2023

On September 30, 2023, members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Project C.U.R.E. at 8303 Kempwood Dr. 77055. Project C.U.R.E. is the world’s largest distributor of donated medical equipment and supplies to resource-limited communities across the globe, touching the lives of parents, families, and children in more than 135 countries. The recent donations were shipped to Ukraine, Turkey, and Syria.

 

From 9:15 AM to 12:15PM, members open up boxes and boxes of medical supplies, in order to find medical equipment that were usable for international curing, like combine dressing pads, Adhesive dressing strips, Hand sanitizer, and Syringe. Volunteer members were categorized into different groups, where each group has its unique tasks, such as bringing boxes of medical equipment from the shelf to the other area, where another group will be responsible for labeling and keeping track of the boxes, and opening them to sort out different Medical equipment and supplies, beside that, another group of member would throw out the trash for medical equipment that will expired and cannot be usable.

 

In total, around 60 boxes of medical equipment have been opened, with each box containing at least 30 to 40 pieces of medical supplies, but only 20% was usable.

 

9 volunteers participated in this 3-hour event: Alexander Tang, Daniel Wu, Sophie Chen, Emma Nguyen, Zijian Wang, Serena Li, Victoria Wang, Raymond Han, Zhen Li.
