Frisco & Plano branch sorting and packaging books for Libraries with Love on June 12th, 2023

Reported by Amanda Yin

On June 12th, 2023, several members of the Frisco & Plano AYLUS branch gathered together to sort and package books in support of the Libraries with Love project. Our goal is to collect 3,000 books and ship them to Africa to help build libraries for those who lack educational resources. We sorted the books into three different categories: preschool-4th grades’ reading level and 4th-8th grades’ reading level, as well as those that couldn’t be shipped. All of the books that fit under the umbrella of elementary school were then split off into designated areas for grades K-2 and 3-4. In fact, the majority of our time was spent sorting the enormous amount of books that had accumulated in the garage rather than packaging them. After we were certain that we had a fair amount sorted away, we packaged them inside of boxes to prepare them for shipping. Everyone did an incredible job; it was a very successful day! We’re so grateful for everyone’s help and support, all of which we could not have done without the help of our wonderful volunteers!
