Syosset Branch Donates Flowers and Baked Goods at Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation to Celebrate Mother’s Day with Elderly Residents, 5/13/23.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, members purchase flowers and baked goods to donate to a local nursing and rehabilitation center. Members made sure that there were no thorns on any of the flowers, and that none of the residents were allergic to the flowers. Furthermore, members purchased treats such as cookies, chocolate, and even a homemade cake for the residents. Staff members had a diet list on-hand to determine which residents could have certain treats. All of the remaining flowers and treats were kept at the Center and given out to staff and visitors.

Members visited a total of three units and met approximately 50 residents in total. Each unit housed a different population of residents. At all three units, we individually handed out flowers and treats, and interacted with residents by talking to them and wishing them a Happy Mother’s Day. At one of the units, staff members put on music and encouraged us to dance with the residents. Both members of AYLUS and residents at the Center were able to enjoy an exciting day to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Members participated include:

Sophia Liu (4 h), Alyssa Huang (4 h), Rachel Zhang (3 h), Jessica Albrecht (3 h), Nicole Huang (1.5 h), Sonia Huang (1.5 h), Jianie Huang (1.5 h), Nora Han (1.5 h), Joshua Tang (1.5 h)
