Murrieta AYLUS Hosts a Recycling Event to Help Rescued Animals (1st) (9/4/2022)

Reported by Julie Lu

On September 4, 2022, Murrieta AYLUS members recycled the bottles they’ve collected at a local recycling center. All proceeds will go towards the Animal Friends of the Valley, a local animal shelter, to help the rescued animals .

While waiting for the recycling center to open, the members met a kind lady who offered to give all her bottles and cans to them after hearing that the proceeds will be donated to a local animal shelter. She told the members about how her two dogs were brought home from a rescue and wished them good luck with their project. When the recycling center opened, the members quickly sorted all the recyclables and quickly filled 8 bins with plastic bottles, cans, and glass bottles. They made a total of $50 from the recycling and, after tipping $5 to the workers and adding in the dollar a family donated, they have $46 in total.

Volunteers:
Ann Yin, Trisha Leungsikul, Jessica Lu, Julie Lu (1 hour each)
